RE: INVITATION TO ATTEND HIGH-LEVEL E-DISCOVERY AND DIGITAL FORENSICS WORKSHOP FOR BOARD MEMBERS, LAWYERS AND IS PROFESSIONALS
Summit Consulting Ltd has organized the first e-Discovery and Digital Forensics workshop for Board Members, Company Secretaries, Lawyers, IS Professionals and Auditors. The workshop will take place at Serena Hotel, Kampala on 16th July 2012 starting at 8:30 am to 1:00 pm.
The theme for the workshop is “Trust in IT: Security in the Boardroom”. The objective is to create awareness to senior management for effective decision-making concerning IS security, cyber defense and digital forensics. The picture today is not pretty: the bad guys appear to be organized for success, and their intended victims are generally not. People very close to the action appear to have a good understanding of the situation at hand; but senior management and the Board appear to only have a modest awareness regarding the serious challenges (and opportunities) at hand: what's at stake, and what needs to be done. If you couldn't trust the integrity of your financial systems that would justifiably be a very serious board-level concern. Even worse, an attack into your IT system could cause a serious reputational damage to your business.
The workshop will be followed by a five days Practical Advanced Network Security Training for IT professionals and Auditors (detailed brochure is attached). This technical and practical training shall be led by A. Jain, an expert in attack and penetration testing, network security and digital forensics with experience in intelligence and services and high-security operations. Participants shall also get hands on demonstrations on digital forensics and ethical hacking by Appin Security & Summit Consulting experts for insights on how ‘good’ digital evidence is extracted and presented in courts of law – the tools and methodologies used. You will be surprised by what you will learn.
Regardless of how safe and secure your organization may think its IT infrastructure are, it is still not immune to information security threats. Your organization invests a lot of money in information systems. In addition to investing more in deploying the right tools and technology, you must develop a robust and competent workforce equipped with the necessary skills to adequately defend your IT infrastructures. Research shows that an average organization loses over 5-15% of its annual revenue to fraud annually, of which 70% is IT related. This means, with a turnover of say Ugx. 10 billion, you lose about Ugx. 1.5 billion to fraud. Digital forensics and e-discovery helps you know who, what, how, why, and when it all happened. This means if you attend you could help your organization recover a lot of prior year loses and also resolve any ICT related incidence at your organization! Even better, you will learn how to protect your organization in future.
Below is the timetable for the workshop scheduled at 8:30 am at Serena Hotel Kampala. Please book in advance and ensure that you attend in person.
