Business Continuity Planning processes

1.You identify your top risks. You assess them. Then develop mitigation strategy ( this whole process is RM). However, note that not all mitigation strategies work. Some fail. That is where BCP comes in! (risk is you computer could be stolen and all key info lost. Mitigation strategy is that you must keep all data backed up.)

2.You prepare for the bad event. ie. What will you do in case a bad event happened? e.g. a thief may steal your laptop.

3.The incident occurs [E.g. Your laptop gets stolen, with all its data. == you face two challenges – lost data PLUS possibility of your data being stolen by a competitor or adversary.]

4.The response [someone in your office will do x and y]

5.Recovery [things will be ok as if the laptop was never stolen

Business continuity planning combines Risk Management and Disaster Recovery. The two must go hand in hand.

Unfortunately, most people do it wrongly and think the two are separate. That is bad!

We will cover all your key areas and help you love BCP and RM. Plus getting the top people appreciate why it is important.
