The last week of home working has been very tough on my side. I confine in a 2 roomed house, one room serving as the sitting room, at the same time as a dining room and the other as a bedroom.
The dilemma is do I deny my people entertainment? If so, what will keep them around so that they are not moving from one neighbor’s home to another? The size of the room is too small that you can’t have a TV switched on and at the same time you are on the laptop working. It is a total distraction. I have to choose between keeping my people around in the home and working.
What has come out clear during this crisis and lockdown is the future of housing is taking into consideration of home office space. As the world moves towards digitalization, employers are thinking of better ways to work remotely. And the covid19 lockdown is giving many employers on the possible way forward on running big office space or having critical staff work from home and have a clear platform to share updates daily.
Architects should quickly plan for home office space in this modern time. This is what will make great architects in the future.
