If your business isn’t talking about cybersecurity, you are already behind. Cybercrime doesn’t just target banks or tech giants, it’s coming for your SACCO, your small business, and even your customers.
Let me introduce you to iShield Cybersecurity Training. It’s a simple, practical approach to creating a human firewall. Because let’s face it: firewalls and antivirus software mean nothing if your people are clueless.
Four levels of cyber hygiene training
Level 1: Board and Executive Committees
If the top leadership doesn’t understand cybersecurity, they can’t prioritize it. Train them on strategic risks: phishing scams, data breaches, and ransomware attacks that can wipe out your SACCO in hours. Train them on their roles in effective cybersecurity offensive and defensive strategies. What is the role of the board in a cyber incident response plan?
Level 2: Technical staff
These are your frontline defenders. They need to know how to secure systems, monitor threats, and respond to incidents. A small misstep here could cost you millions.
Non-Technical staff
Your receptionist or teller can do just as much damage as a hacker if they click the wrong link. Teach them the basics: recognizing phishing emails, protecting passwords, and avoiding scams. And this should not be a one-off. Cybercriminals tricks are evolving so should your staff.
Customers and the general public
A member who falls for a scam weakens your organization. Run workshops or send out simple guides. When everyone knows how to spot threats, everyone wins. Make social media your friend.
Insight
Cybersecurity isn’t just an IT problem, it is a people problem. Train your team, train your members, and make cybersecurity a culture, not an afterthought.
"There are only two different types of companies in the world: those that have been breached and know it and those that have been breached and don’t know it."
