This lesson follows on from the lesson: Sorting a range on colour

We shall now learn how to reverse a list in Excel.

Please download the zip archive “Reversing a list”, extract and open the file Reversing a list.xlsx

We may, for example, want to reverse the list in column A below

Method 1

  • Enter the value “Rev” into cell F1, the value 1 into cell F2 and the value 2 into cell F

  • Select the range F2:F3.

  • Click the lower right corner of this range, and drag it down to cell F15 using the fill handle.

  • Select any cell in the list in column F.
  • On the Data tab, click ZA.
  • Result

Not only the list in column F, but also the list in column A has been reversed.

Method 2

Method 2 uses a Multicell Array Formula to reverse the order of values in a worksheet range. This will, however, be covered in a lesson ahead as we explore Excel Formulae and Functions.
